Really, I’m only giving you one trailer today. But it’s a doozy.

I recently saw the film Eyes Without a Face. I believe ‘ugh’ may be the word. However, it was also a brilliant flick. And the new Pedro Almodovar (Broken Embraces, Matador) film, The Skin I Live In, appears to owe at least a little bit to it. It also appears to owe more than a little bit to sheer brilliance and creativity.

A brilliant plastic surgeon, haunted by past tragedies, creates a type of synthetic skin that withstands any kind of damage. His guinea pig: a mysterious and volatile woman who holds the key to his obsession.

The story looks wonderful and disturbing. Antonio Banderas looks like he is chewing the hell out of the scenery as the mad scientist-ish plastic surgeon. And for one, I’m interested to see what Almodovar can do with what appears to be borderline gorno material.

The Skin I Live In opens October 14, 2011 and stars Antonio Banderas and Elena Anaya.
